Overview

The DTVSOL Super Router is a single box for an FTTH or IPoE operator. It is the subscribers’ gateway (BNG), the manager of your OLTs and the screen your NOC watches. It runs on a standard x86-64 server with Ubuntu 24.04.

It works with IPoE (DHCP) subscribers. There is no PPPoE and no RADIUS. Edge BGP is not part of it: the router sits behind your border router and hands subscribers their addresses, their speed and their NAT.

  • Services, one call each. Your billing sends an ONT serial number and a speed. The router registers the ONT on its OLT, gives the subscriber a fixed address on its PON port’s network, and returns a permanent service id. No MAC address is needed.
  • DHCP and IPv6. Fixed and dynamic leases, DHCPv6 and prefix delegation, router advertisements.
  • VLANs and QinQ. 802.1Q and 802.1ad interfaces, addresses and static routes, kept across reboots.
  • NAT. Plain source-NAT pools and CGNAT with deterministic port blocks and a mapping log for legal requests.
  • Speed plans. Enforced on the OLT for services and on the router for MAC-based clients.
  • Protection. An allow-list for the management ports, fail2ban, anti-spoofing (IP + MAC + VLAN binding) and port forwards.
  • OLT control. A registry of OLTs with encrypted credentials, plans pushed to every OLT, a collector that reads fiber levels and ONT states every 5 minutes, and configuration backups.
  • Alarms and health. An alarm register checked every minute, a configuration doctor, and a 24/7 wall for a screen in the support room.
  • Saved configuration. Every change goes into one database file with versions you can diff and restore, like a switch’s flash.
Part What it is
dtvsold The router’s daemon. It answers the HTTP API on port 8880, runs the timers and the boot steps, and serves the web monitor. It is a licensed binary.
dtvsol The command line. Every task has a dtvsol command. Run it with no arguments at a terminal for the dtvsol> prompt with Tab completion.
Web monitor HTTPS on port 8881: the live OLT console, the OLT view, the alarms and the settings. See the monitor.
OLT drivers One compiled driver per OLT vendor (dtvsol-olt-<vendor>), delivered with the licence. Huawei MA5600T-family OLTs are supported today.
MK-api A MikroTik-compatible API listener on TCP 8728, so a billing built for MikroTik can provision the router unchanged.
Licence The router fetches its licence from the DTVSOL middleware once a day. The OLT drivers need a valid licence.

  • /opt/dtvsol holds the software. bin/ has the programs, etc/ the base settings.
  • /opt/dtvsol/data/dtvsol.db is the configuration: clients, services, VLANs, OLTs, plans and the rest, in one SQLite file.
  • /opt/dtvsol/log/ has the logs: api.log, auth.log, cgnat-mappings.log and the OLT command log.
